3 Simple Exercises for Seniors

In this video I will share the three best functional exercises that I prescribed for my patients when I was a home physical therapist. I went house to house to provide physical therapy sessions for almost two years when I became a PT. Most of my patients were concerned about falling, losing their balance, and going outside. A good number of them are slow to stand up from their chairs, and some of them have given up using the stairs in their homes. The three exercises that are activity specific to the goals of standing up, walking, and negotiating the stairs are simple: sit to stand, standing balance (weight shifting), and step ups. I will go over each exercise, how to do them, how to modify them, and how to do them safely. Enjoy! Disclaimer: A big part of these exercises will increase your heart rate, so make sure you monitor your heart rate and breathing, or have someone monitor your fatigue level. This is especially important if you have a blood pressure condition, heart condition, or breathing condition. I also highly recommend you to seek out your medical doctor or personal trainer to clear you for these exercises especially if you have any of the above conditions I mentioned. You are responsible for any injury you sustain while doing these exercises.
