TFCC Rehab Overview in 3 Minutes
This is a super short video that goes over what you need to know for TFCC rehab. Basically there are three phases of TFCC injury rehab: management of inflammation, range of motion, and strengthening. At the end of the video I also go over the benefit of using a wrist widget while you are recovering from this injury.
Rough time frame for inflammation phase: first 2 weeks of injury
When you should start range of motion phase: throughout the entirety of the rehabilitation process, from day 1. You really shouldn't avoid moving your wrist unless you are sleeping or in severe pain.
Range of motion exercise repetitions: 10 repetitions, 3 sets, 2-3 times a day, every day.
When you should start strengthening phase: when you can tolerate resisting light resistance with your hand while keeping your wrist straight, probably a month from the onset of the injury.
Strengthening exercises repetitions: 5-10 repetitions, 3 sets, once a day, every other day
You could get most of your function back in 6-8 weeks, but to get back to 100%, it could take up to a year or more.
All footages used in this video are either original footage or obtained via Storyblocks.
Disclaimer: please consult with your local physical therapist or medical doctor before attempting these exercises. These exercises are very general exercises and might not be suited for your specific situation and condition. You are responsible for any injuries that may occur from attempting these exercises.
P.S. I made this video super short because I lost my voice. It was painful to talk for a long period of time.
