Week 3: Wednesday
Today I IMed one of my classmates and told him I now have two patients on my caseload. He asked me what I do for the 5 hours that I'm not treating patients. That's actually a very good question. It's actually 3 hours that I'm not treating patients since we have 1 hour lunch break and I usually have 7 hour days. For some reason those 3 hours just go poof. I'm either walking back and forth from patients' rooms and the gym to check if they're ready for PT. A lot of times my patient is not dressed. I guess I could handle 4 patients if I had them. I'll probably have to work until 4pm though.
I felt really tired today since I went and taught cello to 2 students after I left the site. I didn't get home until after 5pm.
One of my other classmates must have had a great day in her clinical site because her status read "I am truly in love with the physical therapy profession. I am so blessed to have the opportunity to make this my future career <3". Well good for her. I felt so tired that cold seltzer on cold apple juice became what I'm truly in love with. I really don't feel like I'm making a difference in my patients' lives. One of my patients is so strong physically she could get picked up by her daughter and go home at any time. My other patient is so lazy that her condition has not improved since last Friday. As a matter of fact, her performance has gotten worse since last week. Last week we ended with more then 30 feet of walking per session. This week we're stuck with less than 30 feet per session. Last week we were doing all standing exercises. This week we're doing supine exercises. I don't know what's gotten into her but she's being really lazy. I try to be nice as always but she isn't improving.
